If you’ve been following my blog or Instagram for a while now, you would be well aware of the fact that I am OBSESSED with Colourpop. They are one of my favourite makeup brands and tick all the boxes – affordable, quality products and cruelty free! Plus they ship to Australia for a very reasonable price (or free, in fact, if you order as much as I do), which is an added bonus, as all of my Aussies out there will know of the struggle of getting our hands on certain products.
Colourpop released their “Meet Me in the Desert” collection a few months ago to line up with festival season in the US, and came out with 14 brand new Ultra Satin Lips and 24 new shades in their Pressed Powder Shadows. Naturally, I had to try out this new range for myself (as well as a few extra products), so without further ado, here is what I picked up!
When I saw the new Ultra Satin Lip shades, there was no question that I would be purchasing the entire bundle. Pictured above are 13 of the 14 shades, and below is the lone Kismet, which I somehow managed to lose when taking the original product shots, only to find again as I was packing away my light box. Sorry little guy.
The Ultra Satin Lip bundle retails for $69USD, which converts to around $90AUD. The Ultra Satin Lips generally retail for $6.50USD each, so this is a great saving on an already amazing price. I have tried out a few of the shades and I’m really impressed with the formula. It has a demi-matte finish without being drying, and tends to last all day without the need for a touch up. Here are the swatches – as always, photos are unedited apart from the shade names, taken in natural daylight with my Samsung Galaxy S8.
On the subject of lipstick, I picked up a few more bits and pieces to add to my collection. I have been dying to try the new Lux Lipsticks since they were released, and picked up four of them to test out. As with all Colourpop products, the shade range is extremely diverse, so I consulted Temptalia to check out swatches and choose which colours to purchase. The Lux Lipsticks retail for $7USD each, which converts to around $9.30AUD. What really drew me to these lipsticks was the packaging – how gorgeous is it? I particularly love the embossing on the bullet itself.
The shades I got ended up being quite similar, but what can I say, I have a type! I am yet to put these to the wear test but I will be sure to post a mini-review on my Instagram when I do.
I picked up the Karrueche x Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Darling on sale for $4.80USD (approx $6.30AUD), though I believe this one has now been discontinued as the collab was limited edition.
Colourpop were also kind enough to gift me an Ultra Matte Lip in Shimmy as an apology for my order being delayed (although it wasn’t really!) Thanks Colourpop!
I am a big fan of Colourpop’s Pressed Powder shadows and pigments, so I couldn’t resist adding some of the new shades from the festival release to my collection.
The individual shadows retail for $4USD each in the pan only, or an extra $1 in a compact (around $5.30AUD). I purchase the loose pans and store them in my Shop Miss A magnetic palettes. I believe you also receive a discount when you purchase four or more shadows, and some shades are available in bundles for slightly cheaper. When selecting which shadows to purchase, I tried to go for shades that I didn’t already have in my collection, in either palettes or singles. Here are swatches of the shades I picked up – as you can see the pigmentation is incredible!
Once again I am so impressed with everything I picked up from Colourpop. Their variety, quality and price cannot be matched in my opinion, and I look forward to seeing them continue to expand into different products and formulas!
I hope you enjoyed this haul post. I’d love to know your favourite Colourpop products, so please let me know in the comments. I will be back before too long with a much-overdue update on my Project Pan!
Talk to you soon
