Birthday makeup haul and swatches

Hi Beauties!

It was my birthday last Sunday and I was very lucky to receive some gorgeous new makeup.  Below are some photos of the products as well as some swatches and my first impressions.  Enjoy!

Maybelline Master Blush Palette – $21.95AUD

I have been eyeing this off for AGES and finally got my hands on it for my birthday.  I was immediately drawn to the beautiful vibrant colours.  The highlight shade is quite powdery so I don’t think I will get a lot of use out of it, but I know that the blushes will be new go-tos for me.

Tarte Limited Edition Make Believe in Yourself

Eye and Cheek Palette – $55AUD (on clearance for $41!)

As soon as I saw the beautiful design of this palette I knew I had to have it – I am a sucker for packaging!  The colours didn’t swatch as vibrantly as I expected but there is a lot of subtle shimmer and the one matte shade is beautiful, so I will get a lot of use out of it for everyday makeup looks.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush – $55AUD

This is my first ever Hourglass product.  I have been wanting to try their beautiful blushes for a long time but they are on the pricey side so I’m very grateful to have received one as a gift.  I got the shade “Radiant Magenta” and from just swatching it I can tell the formula is incredible – it was super smooth and buttery and gave a beautiful natural glow to the skin.  Very excited to try this on my face!

MAC Metallic Lipstick in Royal Hour – $40AUD (Limited Edition)

I fell in love with this lipstick when I swatched it in-store and my wonderful husband managed to track it down despite it being almost sold out Australia-wide.  It is the most gorgeous duo-chrome shade that catches the light perfectly – very hard to get a photo that does it justice!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette – $75AUD

I knew this palette would be mine as soon as I saw the sneak peeks.  The combination of shades is so different to anything else on the market at the moment and I love the mix of mattes and shimmers.  There have been some really mixed reviews of the palette and based on my swatches I can see how it could be difficult to work with as the shadows are EXTREMELY pigmented, but I can’t wait to try it out for myself.

In Your Dreams Chunky Glitter in Purple Unicorn – $10AUD

and

Stila Magnificent Metals Liquid Eyeshadow in Smoldering Satin-$35AUD

I picked up these two from Mecca Maxima with a gift voucher.  There are so many rave reviews about the Stila eyeshadows and after playing with them in the store I can see why – they are soooo gorgeous and sparkly – another one that photos don’t really do justice.  At $35 each they are a bit of a luxury but I would love to add some more to my collection.

The In Your Dreams glitters are new to Mecca and I couldn’t walk past them.  I didn’t get a swatch photo because it’s quite messy but I did use some for my makeup for the Marriage Equality rally on the weekend and I’m really happy with how it stuck to my skin using just setting spray, and the shimmer was REAL!

I am so excited to try out all of these products over the next few weeks and let you know what I think of them.  I still have some gift vouchers to spend as well but I think I will try to resist temptation as best I can and hold out until holiday collections launch.

Do you have any of these in your collection?  Let me know in the comments, and as always, if there’s anything you would like to see on the blog in the future give me a shout!

Until next time,

Sarah xx
